Car Insurance Pontiac (Car Insurance). Homebuilt helicopter feasibility and practicality?Homebuilt helicopter feasibility and practicality? Is a MOSQUITO helicopter really a practical build project or are these single place machines just grown up toys? . BTW - I have intention of building on for myself. The question simply addresses the practicality of these machines. Are they strictly a 'sport machine'. . I have removed the previous question on this matter because all I got was answers from point gamers. t suppose it depends on what your idea of "practical" is. It depends on what you define as "practical". The are intended for purely recreational purposes. As experimental or ultralight aircraft they can't legally be used for any commercial purpose. They don't have the speed, range, or useful load for any serious travel, but can be used for "$100 hamburger" lunch trips. Auto parts : Rev Limiter Module Acura 1995 . Does a mechanism exist that protects my car's gas tank from being siphoned underneath by thieves? Today, I was watching the news and they were interviewing a mechanic who said at least two cars per week were brought in because a thief had drilled a hole in the gas tank underneath the car and siphoned the gas out. They said this was a growing problem in all parts of the country. I'm worried about this because I can only afford liability insurance and gas tanks can cost up to $1,000 to replace. I have a lock on my gas cap, but is there something I can buy to protect my gas tank underneath the car? car insurance. Auto parts : Rocker Arm Locks Dodge 2005. Rocker Arm Stud Eagle 2006. Pontiac . How to Change the Oil on a 2003 AstroOil changes are an important part of maintaining your 2003 Chevy Astro. You should change your oil every 3,000 miles or at least every three months. Oil keeps the engine clean and lubricates the pistons and other moving parts. It will save you money and time by changing it yourself instead of taking your van to a costly auto repair shop. All you need are just a few tools to get the job done. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Jack Jack stands Wheel blocks Drain pan Oil filter wrench HP-1001 oil filter Shop rag Funnel 6 quarts of 10W30 oil Step by Step : 1 Place the jack under the front end of your Astro under the frame, and place the Astro on jack stands. Place wheel blocks around the rear wheels. 2 Slide the drain pan under your oil pan, which is located in the front center area underneath your van. Unscrew the plug and allow all of the oil to drain completely into the drain pan. Screw the plug back on the oil pan once it's empty. 3 Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter. The oil filter is located on the side the the engine. Wipe off any excess oil, and screw in the new oil filter. Use the wrench to fully tighten it in place. The filter should not be able to be loosened by hand. 4 Slide out from underneath the Astro. Release the jack to bring it back down to level ground. Open the hood of your van, and locate the "Engine Oil" cap. Twist the cap off its port, and insert the funnel. Pour the new oil in through the funnel. This will prevent spillage. 5 Replace the "Engine Oil" cap securely. Pull out the dipstick, wipe it off with the rag, then reinsert it. Pull out the dipstick a second time, and check the end of the stick for the level of oil. It should reach the "Full" line. If it does not, add more oil accordingly and recheck the dipstick. Tips & Warnings Doing an oil change should be done on a flat level surface for accurate oil drainage and checking the level of oil.
Pontiac . How to Remove the Exhaust on a Goldwing 1500The Honda Goldwing uses a dual exhaust system with one pipe extending from each engine cylinder jug. The exhaust attaches onto the engine with two bolts for each pipe, and one on the frame. This makes removing the exhaust system for replacement or repair relatively straightforward. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Socket set Step by Step : 1 Locate the two bolts that secure each tailpipe to the Honda Goldwing 1500's lower frame. The bolts secure to the backside of the exhaust pipe approximately where the seat is located on the frame. Remove both bolts using a socket. 2 Remove the top exhaust pipe from the rear cylinder jug. The pipe secures to the jug with two bolts. Remove the bolts using a socket. Pull the pipe free of the cylinder jug. 3 Remove the bottom exhaust pipe from the front cylinder jug. *3. The excess and used exhaust fumes pass from the turbine to the exhaust system and continue on their way to the tailpipe and out into the air in their usual manner. 4. The more load on the engine, the hotter and faster are the exhaust fumes that turn the turbine. The faster they turn it, the more air the compressor sends to the engine and the faster the engine can go. This unique way of converting exhaust gas energy into mechanical power has a nice merry-goround effect. Sounds simple, doesn't it? Well, usually the first thing an engineer learns is "The simpler, the better," or, as the Zen monks put it, "Less is more." (Ecology, engineering, and philosophy all in a couple of paragraphs! Maybe I ought to change the name of this book to Zen and the Art of Auto Maintenance.) Don't confuse turbocharging with supercharging. A supercharger is a pump that compresses the fuel/air mixture and forces it into the cylinders of a gasoline-powered car: Because superchargers are usually belt-driven by the engine instead of by exhaust gases, they use engine power to increase engine power. Because they're not fuel efficient, they generally are used only to increase the speed of "high-performance," low-efficiency vehicles. Turbocharging kits are available that you can install on conventional vehicles to increase their power and performance. However, because turbocharging places considerable stress on engines that weren't designed with turbocharging in mind, you run the risk of damaging your engine and voiding all existing warranties if you decide to boost Old Faithful with a turbo kit. So investigate the situation carefully before you go this route. Some owners have had marvelous success, and their engines have lived to tell the tale; others haven't been as lucky. Generally speaking, I would never attempt to turbocharge the original engine of an older car, nor would I tinker with anything but a ruggedly built engine in top condition. If Old Faithful is beginning to show the strain of passing years, it would be wiser to recycle the old workhorse and buy yourself a turbo-powered filly! Part II: What Makes It Go? 336

After relatively brief romances with steam and electricity, the internal combustion engine became the primary source of automotive power. In the United States and many other parts of the world, gasoline is the preferred fuel for passenger vehicles, while diesel fuel often powers trucks and agricultural and construction equipment. In many parts of the world where gasoline is in short supply, most of the passenger vehicles have diesel engines, too. In recent years, environmental concerns about the impact of automotive exhaust on air quality — plus the fact that the world's supply of petroleum is rapidly diminishing — have created an intense effort to develop vehicles that run on alternative fuels. Vehicles that run on liquid gases of various kinds, electric vehicles (EV), and vehicles driven by exotic hybrid engines and fuel cells are being touted as prime candidates for "Car of the Future." The first section of this chapter tells you everything you need to know about vehicles with diesel engines. The rest of the chapter brings you up-to-date on the alternatives that are currently considered to have the most potential for supplanting the internal combustion engine in years to come. 132 Part II: What Makes It Go?. Diesels For Dummies This section is structured as a mini-version of Auto Repair For Dummies devoted entirely to diesel-powered vehicles. It spells out both the advantages and disadvantages of owning a diesel-powered vehicle and explains how a diesel engine works. It also provides instructions for maintaining and troubleshooting diesels and for finding a good diesel mechanic when your best efforts just aren't enough. Although diesel-powered vehicles are almost universal in a large part of the world where gasoline is almost unavailable, diesel engines are used mainly for heavy equipment in the United States and Canada. Diesel-powered cars exist, but — except for a short period in the 1980s, when fuel shortages made them popular because they got 25 percent more miles per gallon than gasoline engines — they have acquired a reputation for being noisy, underpowered, smelly, and cantankerous. This is not always the case, however. Mercedes-Benz, who pioneered the diesel car as a luxury vehicle decades ago, still makes diesel-powered vehicles that many consider unsurpassed for beauty, performance, high resale value, and high price tags. Volkswagen, whose VW Rabbit was the first peppy, moderately priced diesel car, still offers diesel-powered vehicles, and other manufacturers also offer diesel cars and trucks. If you're considering buying a diesel-powered vehicle, take a good look at the next section before you decide. The good and bad about diesels To accurately compare diesel vehicles with traditional gasoline-powered vehicles, you need to consider a number of pros and cons. Pontiac . * PRO: Diesels get great mileage. CON: So do vehicles with fuel-efficient gasoline-powered engines, which often cost a couple of thousand dollars less than diesels. You can buy a lot of gas for a couple of thousand dollars! Diesel fuel is not available at many service stations, and although it used to be cheaper than gasoline, it now often costs as much — or more — than gasoline, and it may become even more expensive, depending on availability and demand. PRO: Diesel fuel contains more usable energy than gasoline. CON: Although diesel fuel is considered more efficient because it converts heat into energy rather than sending the heat out the tailpipe as gas-powered vehicles do, it doesn't result in flashy "high performance." A gasoline-powered vehicle is like a racehorse — high-strung, fiery, and fast — whereas a diesel vehicle is more like a workhorse — slow, strong, and (hopefully) enduring. .
